Human Use Radiation Safety Committee

The following is the criteria for research protocols that need Human Use Radiation Safety Committee (HRSC) review:

  1. All protocols which involve any imaging studies, except for Ultrasound or MRI, including, but not limited to CT, Fluoroscopy, Diagnostic X-ray, and or Nuclear Medicine.
  2. All protocols which involve any form of radiation therapy.
  3. All protocols involving the use of the Gamma Knife.
  4. All protocols which involve any interventional fluoroscopic procedure,  including but not limited to angiography, cardiac catheterization, and interventional neuro-fluoroscopy
  5. All protocols which involve any bone densitometry.
  6. All protocols which involve the administration of radioactive material to humans in any form, regardless of the purpose of such administration.
  7. All protocols which involve exposure of the subject to any form of ionizing radiation, rather machine or isotope produced.
